Susanna (often spelled "Susannah" or "Sushanna") Chamness was born 1738 in Baltimore County, Maryland to Anthony Chamness (1713-1777) and his first wife, Sarah Cole (1718-1765). A member of The Society of Friends by birthright, she moved with her family to North Carolina by 1755 when in that year on May 15th she was married in a Quaker union to Jeremiah Reynolds (1726-1815). That marriage was recorded in Monthly Meeting notes at Cane Creek Friends Meeting. At that date Cane Creek Meeting was located in the parent county of Orange, North Carolina but later that location became Alamance County when it was formed in 1849 from part of Orange County. Susanna died at her home in Randolph County, North Carolina in 1812. She and Jeremiah had thirteen children. For a list of those children see her husband's memorial.
