Herman Louie Schmidt died at the Louie Krug home Monday afternoon between the hours of five and six. About seven weeks ago he was taken sick and had to give up his barber business in West Bend. For a time he was confined to his bed, but was able to take an outing Sunday. His ailment was asthma and leakage of the heart. The funeral service was held at the Apostle church Wednesday afternoon and he was buried in the West Bend cemetery. Rev. Jos. Banwart conducted the services.
Mr. Schmidt was born in Germany on July 30, 1872 [NOTE: this may be wrong; his baptism record says July 31st], and came to America in 1883. He lived at Vinton, Iowa, until 1888 when he came to West Bend. He learned the barber trade here and worked at this profession up to the time of his death. He was married about eleven years ago to Miss Elizabeth Krug, who with one son, about five years of age, survives him. Eight years ago they moved to Oregon and returned to West Bend, June 17, 1925, and have been making their home with Louie Krug. He opened a barber shop in the Faschtor building some time last fall. The Journal extends sympathy to the wife and son in their bereavement.
