Saturday night on Melson Ridge, Adair County, Bryant Shearer and Grover Cape, two white men, got into trouble and Cape was shot and killed. Whiskey is said to be the cause of the trouble, and it is also said the killing was justifable. Sheriff Mitchell and his deputy, Clyde Crenshaw, were notified and they went to the scene but Shearer could not be found.
