Kayla Martin, 28, of Cuba was killed early Saturday evening when the post office roof in Cuba was torn off and came crashing back to earth, landing on Martin's Car in the parking lot of the Alps Grocery Store.

Crawford County Coroner Paul Hutson told Fox 2 (http://bit.ly/PsAeRg) debris shattered Martin's windshield and struck her in the chest as she was talking to her brother who was parked next to her. They were both taken to Phelps County Medical Center where Martin was pronounced dead. Her brother's injuries were not life-threatening.

According to Martin's obituary, she was born October 12, 1983 in Rolla to Randy Martin and Debra Holladay. She was a 2002 graduate of Steelville High School graduate and was the general manager of the Phillips 66 gas station where she has worked for the last seven years.
An employee at the gas station said Sunday the news of Martin's death was very upsetting, and no one was ready to talk about it yet.

She is survived by her fiance, Zackary Stubbert of Steelville; children Zackary James Stubbert and Lilliam Audrey Stubbert of Steelville, step-daughter Brooklyn Stubbert of Cuba, parents Debbie (Jack) Collins of Cuba, and Randy (Anna) Martin of Cherryville; grandparents Betty Martin of Steelville, and Burl Holladay of Arkansas; two brothers Kevin Martin of Cuba, and Kyle Martin of Steelville.

Calling hours for Martin will be 4-8 Wednesday, July 12, at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 12, at the funeral home with Pastor Joe Bruno officiating. Committal prayer and interment will be in the Martin-Trask Cemetery in Cherryville.
