John Bevelander died in his home on Rollstone Avenue, West Sayville on January 29th, 1947, after a long illness. He was born in The Netherlands 80 years ago, but had made his home in West Sayville for almost 60 years. He was a retired Bayman.

Mr. Bevelander was a charter member of the West Sayville Fire Department, to which he had belonged for more than 50 years. He also belonged to Court Bayside, Foresters of America.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Gerrit N. Vander Borgh, of West Sayville, five sons, William and Donald A., both of Sayville, Edward and John G., of West Sayville, and Gerrit of New York City; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held and Raynor's Memorial Chapel on Saturday, at 2:30 pm with the Reverend J. H. Joldersma, Pastor of the First Reformed Church, officiating. Mr. Bevelander has been a member of the church for many years. Interment in the family plot in Union Cemetery.
