EDWARD J. BEINTEMA
Edward J. Beintema, 62, of 27 Brook Street, West Sayville, died suddenly Saturday evening while visiting at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ralph Rhyce, at 133 Rollstone Avenue, West Sayville. Mr. Beintema was playing cards when he suddenly slumped over the table. He was pronounced dead by Dr. John Dondero, of Oakdale.
Mr. Beintema was born in Sayville, the son of the late John S. and Tina Mulder Beintema, and lived in this vicinity all his life He was a dairyman but for the past four years served as a special officer for the Town of Islip. Mr. Beintema was a member of the West Sayville Fire Department, the Community Ambulance Company, and of Connetquot Lodge No. 838 , F. & A.M. of Sayville. He was also a past patron of Metlakhatla Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, of Sayville. During World War I he served in the United States Merchant Marine.
He is survived by his wife, Mabel Bennett Beintema, two sons, Edward J. Beintema, Jr., of Oakdale and William Beintema, of West Sayville and his daughter, Mrs. Rhyce. He also leaves two brothers, Sikka J. Beintema, of Hunter, N. Y., John S. Beintema, of West Sayville, and six sisters, Van Wyen and Mrs. Clarence Hoek Sr., all of West Sayville, Mrs. John Barbanes, of Bay Shore , Mrs. John R. Davies of Oakdale, and Mrs. William Collins, of Bayport, and five grandchildren.
Organizational services were held Monday at Raynor's Chapel and funeral services were held Tuesday, afternoon in the First Reformed Church, West Sayville with the Rev. Carrett C. Roorda, pastor officiating. Interment wars in Union Cemetery, Sayville.
