The Rev. Arthur D. Jones, a resident of Baker and native of Columbia, Miss., died at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9, 2004, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 83 and a retired Baptist minister.

Survived by his wife of 61 years, Hazel Ellard Jones; five daughters, Joann Lindsay, Carolyn Davis, Shirley McCollum, Brenda Pierce and Nell D'Antoni; three sons, David Jones, Randy Jones and Doug Jones; a brother, Ray Jones; a niece, Katie Jones; 16 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

He dedicated his life to serving others as a minister for 25 years. He was a servant to eight nursing homes in the local area, visiting and conducting religious services.
