letter to Stanton Storer Skolfield dated 14 February 1935, postmarked Steuben. Maine, he
writes: "I am blind in my left eye and am almost blind in both. I am the buby and the last
of the family. I look like my father. When I was 6 years of age I worked in Jasper Wyman's lobster factory picking out clams; stood up on a boat with girls and women for
60 cents per day. My father had a shock when I was 13 years old then died and I had mother and house to care for." In the 1930 Federal census he was living in the household of his brother-in-law Ernest Turner and sister Susan in Milbridge, Maine. He was buried
