Born November 21, 1913 in Moab, Utah, son of Elvin Theodore and Bethenia Leonan Johnson Duncan. An outstanding student and athlete, he was elected Student Body President of his high school. Elected County Attorney for Grand County Utah. He served his country during World War II, attaining the rank of lieutenant in the US Army. An avid scouter, Lyman served as a Boy Scout leader most of his life, and was awarded the Silver Beaver Award. Active in the LDS church, he served in 3 bishoprics, as a High Councilor, and numerous outer callings.
Married Marvene Heward in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 4, 1948. Graduated from the University of Utah in 1950 in Journalism. He worked as Chamber of Commerce Manager for Cloverdale, Healdsburg, and Atwater, California. He reveived many honors for his outstanding community service. After retirement, he worked as an editor of the local newspaper.
Survived by wife; three children: Elvin (Lisa) Duncan, Gary (Tera) Duncan, Marilyn (Kelly) Eddy; 10 grandchildren; two brothers, and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 1, 10am at the Timpanogos Stake Center. Under the direction of McDougal Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the LDS Church Missionary Fund.
