Lieutenant Junior Grade (LTJG), United States Navy Reserve (USNR), World War Two. While serving as a naval aviator assigned to Torpedo Squadron Eighty Two (VT-82) undergoing training at Naval Auxilary Air Facility (NAAF) New Bedford, Massachusetts he perished when the TBM Avenger torpedo bomber he was piloting crashed into the Atlantic Ocean off Martha's Vineyard while on a training flight - his remains were recovered. Also lost in this incident was and AMM2c Kenneth Eiler Jr. ARM3c Anthony F. Spampinato.
