MRS. NICHOLAS C. KOEL
Caledonia, MN **(Special)**
Mrs. Nicholas C. Koel, 56, died at 6 pm yesterday at her home here following an illness of several years. She has been abed since last November.
Lucy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leopold Palen, was born Oct, 20, 1885 on the home farm three miles northwest of here, now occupied by a nephew, Matthew Palen. She was married Aug. 18, 1908, at St. Peter's Catholic Church here and has resided here since. Her husband was registrar of deeds in Houston county at one time.
Survivors include her husband; six children: Mrs Henry S. (Bernadine) Blexrud; Mrs. Orval (Lucille) Wagner, Northfield; Elaine and Lorraine, twins, who are both in nurses' training at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester; Marita and Donald at home; one granddaughter; four sisters: Mrs Anna Molitor, Adrian, Minn; Mrs. Mae Borth, Winnona; Mrs. Frances Fuos, Caledonia; and Mrs. P.H. (Josephine) Bywater, St Paul; five brothers: Frank J. Palen of Dubuque, IA; Nicholas S. of Sparta, WI; Emil of La Crosse; Joseph F. of Minneapolis; and Henry of Caledonia.
Members of St Elizabeth Aid and St Mary's Alter societies, of which she was a member, will attend the funeral services in a body. Rites will be conducted at 9 am Monday from the home and then from St Peter's church, the Rev. A. E. Wermerskirchen officiating. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery.
