Edwin Quinton Waters, 82, a native and resident of Gateswood, died Jan. 13, 1999 in Fairhope. He was a veteran of World War 11, a member of the American Legion Post 99. He was a long time member of the board of directors of the Alabama Sheriff's Boys' Ranch, a member of the Gulf Shores United Methodist Church and an active member of the "Golden Agers" of Gateswood. Survivors include five sisters, Kitty Hellmich of Foley, Lavone Hinsley, Martha W. Owens and Susie Wilder, all of Gulf Shores and Phelena 'Doll' Peterson of Bay Minette; two brothers, Herbert B. Waters of Pine Grove and John Waters of Gateswood; and a host of nieces and nephews. Services were held Jan. 16 at Clear Springs United Methodist Church. The family prefers that memorial contributions be made to Clear Springs Cemetery Fund, 28555 State Highway 112, Robertsdale, AL 36567 or Gulf Shores United Methodist Church, P. 0. Box 374, Gulf Shores, AL 36547.
