Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Jagers and Sons Funeral Home, Athens, with Pastor Monty McCune officiating. Burial will be in McDougal Cemetery.∼ATHENS -- Dennis E. Hixson, 88, of North Peach Ridge Road, Athens, died at his home late Sunday evening, Dec. 16, 2001.
Born June 2, 1913, on LaFollette Road, Ames Twp., he was the son of the late Amos Edwin and Iva Ellen Mingus Hixson. He was an avid outdoorsman, and was retired from Abex Corp., where he was a tool and die maker. He attended Carthage-Troy and McDougal Schools. Early in life he was a farmer and coal miner and was in the CCC. He was a member of South Canaan Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Cledythe Pauline; daughters Beverly (Tom) Danner and Lynda (John) Wachenschwanz of Athens; a sister, Marsha (Brad) King of Pataskala; a son-in-law, Joe Bartlett of Athens; a sister-in-law, Helen Hixson of Athens; a brother-in-law, George (Arlie) Halbirt of Athens; eight granddaughters and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Norma Bartlett; a son, Larry Hixson; a sister, Maude Halbirt; and brothers Edwin and William Bill Hixson.
