Leslie Roeder age 88, passed away on July 6, 2012 at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.

Leslie was born on May 9, 1924 to Oscar and Elsie (Wippermann) Roeder. He married Ruth Eickberg on May 21, 1949 at Ebenezer UCC in Sheboygan. They were blessed with 3 children, David, John and Mary.

He was a loving husband and father, hard working and honest. Galatians 5:22-23 describes his virtues; "But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives, He will produce this kind of fruit in us; love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control."

He was a former member of St. John UCC Schwarzwald where he was baptized and confirmed, and served as a Deacon and Elder and was on the Cemetery Board and a Brotherhood member. He attended Emmanuel Bible Church in Sheboygan for 8 years and was currently involved as a member of St. Peter Evangelical Church in Town of Rhine.

He served on the Howards Grove School Board for 7 years, 6 of those years as district treasurer. He also was a member of the CESA Board of Control for 5 years.

Leslie was a Dairy Farmer for 39 years and was employed by Bitter Neumann & Company for 10 years. He had a lifetime interest in aviation, soloed at age 18 and flew for 6 years.

In his retirement years he enjoyed traveling and Door County. He loved reading, furthering his knowledge of the Bible, the world, history and sports. He became famous for his Lemon Meringue pies and Chocolate Éclairs. He resumed ice skating at age 79 for 2 years. Much time was spent tending his yard and especially his roses. He never stopped keeping an eye on farm crops and a record of the rain fall from year to year.

Survivors include Ruth, his loving wife of 63 years, his children; David and his wife Janet and their daughter Emma, John, Mary and husband Gene TerHorst and their children, Michael and wife Elizabeth and Katie. He is also survived by his brother and sister in-law, Bill and LaVerne Eickberg, brothers-in law; David Koch and Richard Hermann, sister in-law, Harriet Roeder, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Leslie was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald and Harold, and sisters Jeanette Koch and LaVerne Kammann and Great Granddaughter, Sophia TerHorst. He is also preceded by a sister in-law, Rosemary Hermann and brother in-law Reuben Kammann.

Funeral Services for Leslie will be on Monday, July 9, 2012, at 6:00 pm, at Zimmer's Westview Funeral & Cremation Care Center (Hwy 42 and JJ Howards Grove) The Reverend Keith Hunholz, Pastor of St. Peter Evangelical will officiate. Friends may call on Monday, at the funeral home from 3:00 pm until the time of service. Burial will take place at St. John's (Schwarzwald).
