He had at least two brothers. Archibald Kennedy of Bristol, England, and Rev. Dr. Thomas Kennedy who was born at Blantyre Jan 24, 1828, and died at London Aug. 9, 1913. He received his degree from Princeton in 1874 then his doctorate at Glasgow University in 1901. A Presbyterian minister, he was elected moderator of the United Free Church of Scotland in 1900.
