Earl Carson Davis

Funeral services for Earl Carson Davis, 84, will be held Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Pine Grove United Methodist Church in Minden. Officiating will be the Rev. Jerry Brannen and the Rev. Dee Anders. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Minden.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. today, April 4, 2011 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.

Mr. Davis was born June 7, 1926 in Dubberly and entered into rest April 3, 2011 in Minden. He was a farmer, welder and rancher. He loved to experiment and try different kinds of cattle and grasses. He shared his knowledge with anyone that was interested. In his retirement years he enjoyed creating iron yard ornaments.

His parents, Charlie and Laura Davis; brother, Gilbert Davis; and sisters, Willie Mae Robinson and Bertha Glass preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Azalea Thornton Davis of Minden; son, Earl David Davis and wife, Diane of Minden and daughter, Linda Davis Lyles and husband, John of Minden; sisters, Jonnie Hicks of Dubberly, Sue Coile of Sarepta and Jency Griffie of Minden; brother, Ed Davis of Minden; grandchildren, Shelley Spence and husband, Brad of Ennis, Texas, Jay Lyles and wife, Sarah of Baton Rouge, Chris Lyles and wife, Laura of Norman, Oklahoma and Yvonne Davis of Minden; and one great-grandchild, Carson Neil Lyles.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like for memorials to be made to the Pine Grove United Methodist Church music fund.
