Dorsey Elihu "Dossie" Bishop was born 26 Jan 1884 in Enville, Tennessee. On 07 Mar 1907 he married Lela Mae Woodward, daughter of Henry Woodward and Francis Redfearn Woodward. Dossie Bishop died tragically at the age of 38 years, 4 months and 30 days on 25 Jun 1922 near Henderson, Tennesse, while living in Finger, Tennessee, and is buried at O'Neal Cemetery in Enville, Tennessee.

Dossie and Lela Mae had four children, two of which survived infancy: Roy Douglass Bishop was born 27 Aug 1909 and Inetha Bishop (Latimer) was born 17 Dec 1914.

Dossie Bishop was a prominent merchant of McNairy County and was in the mercantile business (Bishop & O'Neal) with his brother Guy Bishop several years at Finger, Tennessee, and Enville, Tennessee, before his life came to a tragic end.

Mr. Bishop and his wife Lela Mae Woodward Bishop were instantly killed at Johnson's Crossing, two miles south of Pinson, when the automobile in which they were riding and which was being driven by Scott McCaskill, who was also killed, was struck by a north bound Mobile & Ohio passenger train.
