Mr. Burdette died Sunday in a Portland care facility of causes related to age. He was 80.
A retired minister since 1967, Mr. Burdette's most recent pastorate was at the Arlanza Baptist Church in Riverside, Calif., for six years.
Mr. Burdette was born in Evansville, Ind., on December 15, 1912. He married May Morgan on Oct. 9, 1936, in Wellsburg, W.Va.
He was a member of the Tri-Valley Baptist Temple and was active in the Milwaukie Senior Center.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Dorothy Young of Milwaukie; sons, Robert R. of Pittsburg, Kansas and James A. of Berryton, Kansas; brother, Horace Burdette of Akron, Ohio; sisters, Evelyn Vining and Betty Jo Williams, both of Barberton, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; and four greatgranchildren.
Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery in Oregon City.
