This is from "A FEW COMMENTS ON FAIRVIEW CEMETERY" by Cyril Heady

" Confirmed statistics on internments in Fairview Cemetery are scarce or incomplete. During the period 1890 to 1920 we have records of 41 burials. There could be a few more.........

The five children of Mr. and Mrs Nick Tholl are the only ones surrounded by an iron fence. The Tholls were the owners of the Miner's Rest, a saloon and boarding house. It was situated at a narrow place in the gulch. The water of Reid Creek (Current spelling 'Reed Creek') came down along the hill and was utilized under the back porch. All the garbage from the house was thrown over the porch rail. This contaminated the water supply. In 1893 a diptheria epidemic occurred. Johnny was the oldest and the first one to succumb. Then one by one his four sisters joined him up in the cemetery."
As far as we know two young brothers and a sister are buried with Peter, making 4 in all. Peter may have been named John Peter or Peter John, but our family history notes have him as Peter.
