James Gary (Jimmy) Lamb, 62, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, at his residence.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 AM Monday at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home with Rev. Byron Dumas and Dr. Larry Robertson officiating.
Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM Sunday and from 9:00 AM until the hour of service Monday at the funeral home.
The remains are to be cremated.
Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Lamb was born June 17, 1947, and grew up in Christian County, Kentucky where he attended Sinking Fork School and graduated from Hopkinsville High School. Mr Lamb moved to Tennessee to attend College and earned a Bachelor's and a Master's in Education and History from Austin Peay State University. He was a retired Teacher who taught in Clarksville/Montgomery County and 26 years in Robertson County Schools in Springfield, TN. He was nominated and received the honor of Who's Who of American Teachers in 1996 and again in 1998. He was also nominated for the Disney teacher Award. He was involved in Church Sports, Camping, and Little League Actives. He was a member of Concord Baptist Church in Hopkinsville, and First Christian Church, and also attended Community Church and Hilldale Baptist Church with his family. He was a published author, and avid reader, a devoted father and husband, wholoved family (Disney) vacations, Ball Card Collecting, Star Wars Memorabilia, nature walks, museums, and appreciated all God gave him.
Mr. Lamb was the son and eldest child of the late James William Lamb and Marie Clark Lamb. Besides his dad, he was also preceded in death by his brother William "Bill" Lamb. Mr. Lamb is survived by his wife of 41 years, Joan Carol Joiner Lamb, his mother Marie Lamb, Hopkinsville, Ky, one son Joshua Lamb, Clarksville, and one daughter, Jody Michele (Jon) McCray also of Clarksville (previously of Fort Hood, Texas). He is also survived by three brothers, Donnie (Phyllis) Lamb, Jeff (Debbie) Lamb, Kevin (Alice) Lamb, all of Hopkinsville, KY and a sister-in-law, Rachel (Ron) Crowden of Augusta, Georgia. He is also survived by three precious grandchildren, Austin, Alyssa, and Ashton, along with many nieces, nephews, friends & loved ones.
