Nellie L. Francis Herndon, of Columbus, NM, a former resident of Lutesville, died October 9, 1990 in a hospital at Deming, NM. She was born September 17, 1918 in Lutesville, MO, daughter of Andrew J. and Dova (Cox) Baker.
She graduated from Lutesville High School in 1937.
She was first married to Lester H. Francis. He died February 7, 1966.
In 1968 she married Clark Herndon at Las Cruces, NM.
She is survived by one son, Michael Ray Francis of Odessa, TX; four daughters, Marcia Ruby Norris of Las Cruces, NM; Jo Nell Guess of Las Cruces, NM; Marsha Burke of Columbus, NM; and Darla Fincher-Austin of San Angelo, TX; one sister, Geneva Graham of Marble Hill, MO; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Her first husband, her parents, and one granddaughter, Cynthia Dawn Huey, preceded her in death.
Graveside services were held October 13.
