Politician. He was a pioneer of Missouri. While a land office clerk in St. Louis, he was elected Secretary of the State Convention. The convention gathered to write the Constitution for Missouri when it entered the Union in 1821. He was Secretary of State, Probate Judge of St. Louis County and a member of the Missouri State Senate. He was a veteran of the War of 1812.
