Bonnie was the daughter of Oscar Martin & Lena Lenona (Braddey) Wood. She married Ben Lee Hanes 10 Feb 1934.

CARMI — Bonnie Hanes, 91, of Carmi, passed away 1:15 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 29, 2004, at the Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi.

She was born Aug. 27, 1912, in Wayne County, Ill., the daughter of Oscar Martin and Lena Lenona (Braddey) Wood. She married Ben L. Hanes on Feb. 10, 1934, he preceded her in death on Feb. 12, 1985. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Christian Church in Carmi. She was very active with the Carmi Lions Club, Home Extension Club and bowling and fishing.

Surviving are two granddaughters, Velvet Ann Hanes-Ritchie of Atlanta, Ga., and Lebra Jo Hanes-Winiger of Evansville, Ind.; a daughter-in-law, Jimmye and her husband, David Wiginton of Mount Vernon, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Jerry Lee Hanes on Aug. 14, 1965; a sister, Mildred Anderson; and seven brothers, Earl, Emery, Ross, Vernie, Frank, Ab and Walter Wood.

Funeral services for Bonnie Hanes, 91, of Carmi will be Tuesday, March 2, 2004, at 2 p.m. at the Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, with Robby King officiating. Burial will be in White County Memorial Garden in Carmi. Friends may call at the Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi on Tuesday, after 12 noon until service time at 2 p.m
