Peter Herman (P.H.) was born mear Polk City, Polk County Iowa in a log cabin October 18,1859.One of 16 children. Growing up on the family farm near the Des Moines River. He and his siblings assisted their parents in normal farm chores.
Shortly after March 2nd, 1875 he came to Alida, Ks.in the late 1870's-early-1880's he started corrosponding with Rosina Lehman of Palmar,Iowa by mail.November 11,1880 a marriage is held.He was a philosopher with a keen sense of humor and away with words as well as a farmer.He farmed in section 27-11-4,Fragrant Hill Township of Dickinson County, Ks. Peter and Rosina had 10 children.
P.H.'s mother Anna Maria Moser Gfeller lived with him and Rosina in her declining years till her death Oct.26, 1912.
