Ervin Phillip Konold, 94, a resident of Lake City, formerly of Pelican Rapids, MN and Fergus Falls, MN died Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Lake City Care Center in Lake City, MN.

Ervin was born September 15, 1917 at Avoca, MN, son of William and Martha (Smith) Konold. He attended grade school in Murray County, high school in Fulda, MN and was a Charter Member of the American Lutheran Church in Worthington, MN.

He worked on a farm until enlisting in the Army in December of 1940. Ervin served in Europe was discharged in October of 1945. He enlisted in the Air Force in August of 1949 and served until August 1950.

On October 6, 1951 he married Elaine H. Bjornstad of Richville, MN; the couple lived in Worthington and Ervin worked for the city. They moved to Pelican Rapids in 1959 and were members of the Faith Evangelical Lutheran church for 30 years. Ervin worked as a parts manager for the Ford dealer and for an auto parts company. In 1980 he began working at Pelican Valley Health Care Center in Pelican Rapids in their maintenance department, and retired from there in 1994.

In 1995, they moved to Fergus Falls and in 2005 moved to Lake City. Family and friends gathered together to celebrate Ervin and Elaine's 60th wedding anniversary in October 2011.

Ervin was preceded in death by his parents; and ten brothers and sisters; Louise Kahler, William Konold, Arthur Konold, Lila Johnson, Neva Illg, Harold Konold, Viola Meyer, Vernon Konold, Adolph Konold and Evelyn Gerdes.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine and children, Susan (Daniel) Thorson of Wabasha, MN, David (Emily) Konold of Minneapolis, MN and Thomas Konold of Woodbridge, VA; grandchildren, Michael, Brenda, Rachel, Daniel, Cheryl, Shelby; great-grandchildren, Danielle, Nicole, Abigail; great-great grandchildren, Lily, Audrey; and his sister, Darlene Hunnicutt of Powell, TN.

Visitation: One hour prior to service at the funeral home.

Service: 11 a.m. Thursday, July 5, 2012 at the Olson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls
