John S. Bush arrived in Marion Co. when about 19 years old 1818). He married Margaret Gardner June 23, 1825 in the home of Samuel Conway, Sr. They all came from the same area of Pendleton Co., Ky. (Grassy Creek). John was a farmer. At one time he owned and worked 1,500 total acres; land behind Hannibal, Mo., Sni bottom land, and land in Shelby Co., Mo. He was married twice and for all intents and purposes raised two families.
