In 2001 she was honored by the bestowal of a Molière d'honneur at the annual French tribute to great performers in Paris. Her real name was Madeleine Svoboda. She died in Vaud, Switzerland, where she lived from 1977. On stage, she is remembered for her play on "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?".
