Here is some research to correct the misinformation listing Martha Jane "Sis" Long-Barnes/ Memorial ID 9314511 as the daughter of John Byrd George/Memorial ID 87329449 & Jane McKinney-George/Memorial ID 87329786. The George's did have a daughter named Martha "Mattie" George-Bowman/Memorial ID 53446148. Her son Monte Boman/Memorial ID 49059169 is buried in the Tom George Cemetery. The George's also had a daughter named Mary Jane George-Barnes/Memorial ID 29940623 who did married James M. Barnes/Memorial ID 29940647. James M. Barnes was James Porter Barnes' uncle. James M. was a younger half brother to James Porter's father, Robert Barnes. I descend from Robert & James Porter Barnes's line. Martha Jane Long-Barnes is my 2nd great grand mother, my paper trail and Ancestry DNA proves the connection to Jackson Long & Sarah Ann Weathers-Longs.
Also, James Porter Barnes/Memorial ID 135755689 is indeed buried at Fairview Cemetery, Panama in Leflore Co., OK. Family oral history is that the Poteau River & bottoms were flooded and they could not cross to bury him next to Martha. I think his headstone reading James B instead of P Barnes caused the confusion as to where he was buried. I went often with my Grandma to decorate his, her parents and other family members graves at Fairview.
As for the Tom George Cemetery it had not been taken care of for many years and had grown over, almost lost. In the late 1980's my grandma wanted to go back and visit her sibling and grandma's graves. She had not been there since the family moved away when she was 12, around 1909. The cemetery was located, cleared off and we were able to take her back there. A few years later I returned, took photos of the headstones in the cemetery and a few years later posted them to Find a Grave. The Barnes's, Loyd and Gollihare's graves are my family. I hope this helps to clear up the matter of who were Martha J long-Barnes parents & where James P Barnes is really buried.
