Clyde was an active member of the Silver Park Church of Christ in Alliance, where he served as an elder. He was a 30-year member of the Stark County Rabbit Breeders Association, a past member of Fairmount Grange, and the Washington Township Ruritans.
Clyde was married to his wife for sixty-eight years and they had two daughters and one son. One of their daughters and her husband, preceded Clyde in death. He was the proud grandfather of ten and great-grandfather of twenty.
