Virgie Adams Eggleston
Virgie Adams Eggleston, 90 of Madison Heights, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2005. She was the wife of the late Henry Clay Eggleston.
Born August 29, 1914, in Lynchburg, she was a daughter of the late Samuel T. and Lelia Martin Adams.
Mrs. Eggleston was a member of the Madison Heights Baptist Church and was a Sr. Bell Ringer as well as a member of the Keenagers Club. She was retired from the Central Virginia Training Center and Hospital as the chief medical and x-ray technician, and helped pioneer the first PKU tests in infants. She was also a charter member of the American Medical Technicians Association of Virginia and served as secretary on the board.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Elsie A. Ryan and two brothers, James L. Adams and S.T. Adams, Jr.
Survivors include a son, Beverly C. Eggleston and wife Nancy of Lynchburg and a daughter, Bettie A. Jackson of Madison Heights. A brother, Laymond E. Adams and wife Ann of Monroe, a sister, Angeline A. Stevens and husband, Howard of Lynchburg; seven grandchildren, Keith C. Eggleston and wife Stephanie, Timothy J. Eggleston and wife Rebecca, Wendy E. Sale and husband Edward, Ronald W. Almond and wife Deborah, Kenneth L. Almond and wife Melea, Tina Almond Cash and husband Ernie and Brenda E. Smith;17 great grandchildren, Jason Eggleston and wife Brandy, Christine Eggleston, Jessica Eggleston, Kaitlin Eggleston, Jeremy Sale, Justin Sale, Travis Sale, Henry Almond and wife Tara, Elizabeth A Roberts and husband Zachary, Nicholas Almond, Lauren Almond, Robert Almond, Chase Almond, Anthony Stinnett, Jennifer Cash, Jennifer S. Archer and Brian Smith; four great-great grandchildren, Trevor Archer, Heaven Smith, Kaleb Stinnett and Hailee Almond, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 26, 2005 at Whitten Monelison Chapel by Dr. Tim Madison. Interment will take place in the Amherst Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home and at other times at the residence.
