Betty L. Barta, 75, formerly of Oakfield and of 524 Water St., Chilton, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, at Appleton Medical Center, Appleton.
She was born in the town of Calumet, Fond du Lac County, on Feb. 15, 1932, the daughter of Emil and Louisa Freund Gerner.
On Sept. 30, 1950, Betty married Raymond F. Barta at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Jericho. Ray preceded her in death on May 7, 2005.
Betty enjoyed playing bingo and being a helping hand to friends and family. She especially liked playing dominos with her grandchildren.
Survivors include five children, Daniel (Luana) Barta of Green Valley, Ariz., David (Sharon) Barta of Rosendale, Donald (Darlene) Barta of Chilton, Donna (Rick) Kloehn of New Holstein and Debra (David) Resler of Sturgeon Bay; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She is further survived by two brothers, Elroy Gerner of Portage and Don (Rosie) Gerner of Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; five brothers, Emmett, Robert, Sylvester, Lester and Corbin; and one sister, Lou Harlow.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008, at Uecker-witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave., Fond du Lac.
Services: A Liturgy of the Word Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joseph Coerber officiating. Cremation has taken place with inurnment at Tisch Mills at a later date.
