Services for Dr. Bobbie Ann Morris McEntire-Parrish will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Washington Street United Methodist Church with burial in Bush River Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Dr. Mike B. Alexander and the Rev. Diana Westerkam will be officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Dennis, Bart, Bill, John and Jake McEntire and Wayne Hutchinson. Memorial may be made to Washington Street United Methodist Church Music Ministry, 1401 Washington Street, Columbia, S.C. 29201 or to American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Drive, Columbia, S.C. 29210. Visitation will be Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel.

Dr. McEntire-Parrish died Friday, September 19, 2003. Born in Lexington, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Luther and Deborah Ann Reed Morris. A graduate of Brookland Cayce High School and Columbia College, she received her Master Degree and Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina. She was a teacher and principal at Claude A. Taylor Elementary School in Lexington School District 2, administrator with the S.C. Department of Education, member of district management staff of Richland School District 2, principal of Irmo Middle School and principal of Leaphart Elementary School. for a number of years, she served on the district management staff of Lexington-Richland School District 5.

After retiring in 1996, Dr. McEntire-Parrish taught piano for many years from her studio. She served as Organist/choir for various churches in the Columbia area.

Dr. McEntire-Parrish was a member of Washington Street United Methodist Church, president of Irmo-Lake Murray Rotary Club, member of S.C. Association of Middle School Principals and S.C. Association of School Administrators.


Surviving are her husband, Jack M. Parrish; sons, Paul McEntire of Columbia and Norman McEntire and his wife, Sharon, of San Diego, Calif.; stepson Mark Parrish and his wife, Kim of Chapin; brother, Ben Morris Jr. of Cayce; grandchildren, Stacey Eva McEntire, Robert Estes McEntire and Ryan Norman McEntire, all of San Diego. She was predeceased by her first husband, Robert N. McEntire.
