Livingston Enterprise February 28, 1936

William Fowler, 59, well known Overton County farmer, was shot to death Saturday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at his home 10 miles east of Livingston by his son, Martin Fowler, 19, according to a report received by Sheriff P H Windle.
Sheriff Windle said it was reported that the youth fired 5 bullets from an automatic pistol into his father's body, killing him instantly.
According to information received at the Sheriff's office, the father and son had been having trouble for some time. It was reported that the shooting occurred during an argument between Mr & Mrs Fowler.
The youth recently left home, going to Kentucky, but his father brought him back.
The roads between Livingston and the Fowler home are almost impassable. Sheriff Windle said "I may wait for the grand jury to take action".
Surviving Mr. Fowler are his wife, Mrs. Lizzie Smith Fowler; four sons, Hooper, Martin, Connie and Theo; and five daughters, including Mrs. Ennie McDonald and Mrs. Hubert Young, both of this county.
Funeral services were conducted on Monday with burial in the McDonald Cemetery.
