Marvin Speth Reader, 83-year-old Burley resident, passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2012, at Parke View Care and Rehabilitation of complications due to age.

Marvin was born April 17, 1929, in Trenton, Utah, the son of Frank and Lilly Speth Reader. He grew up and attended school in the Moreland, Idaho area. Growing up, he spent a lot of time working on the farm with his brothers. He married Nora Butler on Aug. 23, 1949, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Marvin drove truck in the Blackfoot area for several years and in 1966, moved to Burley, where he worked for Holmes Construction and operated heavy equipment. He was a member of the Teamsters Union and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Marvin loved to pan for gold on his claim near Oakley. He spent a lot of time following his grandchildren, supporting them in their sporting and other activities. He loved to garden and care for his pets.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nora of Burley; three daughters, Penny (Keith) Taylor of Blackfoot, Marva (Donnie) Pickering of Burley and Judy Ennis of Declo; grandchildren, Kimi (Trent) Sorensen, Stacey Mitchell, Jody (Autumn) Taylor, Zya (Del) McKenzie, Xko (Chris) Gonzales, Adaze (Fred) Hickman, Wkl (Bobby) Edgerly, Brooke (Cody) Orgill, Dr. Jeremy (Candace) Ennis and Adam Ennis; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Mick Reader of Post Falls, Darlene Daniels of Blackfoot, Betty Jean Perry of Blackfoot and LaRee Bell of Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents, nine brothers and one sister.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 9, at the Morrison Funeral Home, 188 S. Highway 24 in Rupert. Urn placement will follow in the Paul Cemetery.

The family would like to give a special thank you to all of the caregivers at the Cassia Regional Hospital Intensive Care Unit and at Parke View Care and Rehabilitation for the special care that was given to Marvin and his family.

Services are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home and Crematory.
