Professional Hockey Player. A native of Peterborough, Ontario, Heffernan played the position of Defense for teams in the NHL, OHAJR, OCHL, OHASR, USAHA, and the NSAPC hockey leagues. At 6'00, and 210lbs, Heffernan played for the Peterborough Juniors from 1910 to 1911, Ottawa College from 1911 to 1912, Toronto R&AA from 1912 to 1914, Toronto Victorias from 1914 to 1915, New York Crescents 1915 to 1917, Springhill Miners from 1916 to 1917, Montreal Wanderers from 1917 to 1918, and the Toronto St. Pats from 1918 to 1920. Along with Charlie Querrie, Heffernan also played a part in buying and managing the Toronto St. Pats. He was also an accomplished football player, having played with the Toronto Argonauts. Heffernan passed away in December 1938 in a boarding room in New York City, at the age of 46.
