Pioneer Resident Is Buried Near Alcdo Thursday Afternoon
Mattie Williams Dies in Shawnee Tuesday July 22.

Funeral services for Mrs Mattie Williams pioneer resident of this section were conducted in the Leedey high school auditorium at 3 p in Thursday July 21 with Rev Ralph Renfrow and Rev Cecil Jones in charge. After the sermon the Leedey chapter of the Eastern Star took- charge and the members served as flower bearers.

Burial was in Centerpoint cemetery by Roesch Bros funeral home of Shawnee.
Pallbearers at the last rites were Joe McClain, Lee Fox, Elmo Woolley Doyle Bray, Herman Quattlebaum and Leslie Taylor.

Mrs. Williams died at the home of her daughter Mrs. Ora Crabb in Shawnee Tuesday July 22 at the age of 80 years 8 months and 10 days.

Mattie Acord was born to Mr and Mrs Nathan Acord of Dutton Ark November 12 1877. At the age of 19 she was married to James Leonard Williams. Eight sons and two daughters were born to the union, one son and one daughter dying in infancy. Her husband died in 1920 and two other sons Louis and Buster preceded her in death.

Mrs Williams came to Oklahoma with her husband in 1898 and settled at Butler. She had lived in Dewey and Custer counties from that time until 1932 when she moved to Pueblo Colo. with her two youngest sons Sid and Bill. In 1957 she moved to Shawnee to make her home with her daughter Mrs. Ora Crabb until the time of her death.

Mrs Williams became a Christian early in life and always was consecrated and devoted to her religion. She was a member of the Pueblo Baptist church and the Leedey chapter of the Eastern Star.

She leaves to mourn her passing five sons Jack of El Paso Tex., Bill and Sid of Pueblo Colo., and Paul and Earl formerly of Pueblo and her daughter Mrs. Crabb, of Shawnee, besides a host of other relatives and friends were numbered by her acquaintances.

City Woman's Rites Thursday

Mrs Mottle Martha A Williams 80 of 1221 East Alice died Tuesday at her home. She was born Nov. 12, 1877 in Johnson county Arkansas and came to Oklahoma in 1898 settling at Butler Okla. She moved to Colorado in 1935 coming to Shawnee. In February 1957 and making her home with her daughter Mrs. A R Crab.

She was a member of the Baptist church in Park Hill Colo. Survivors are a daughter Mrs. A. R. Crabb 1221 East, Alice; five sons Paul, Kermit, Earl Calvin, Sidney Nathan and William Curtis; three sisters Mrs. Lue Lawrence, Rye Colo. Mrs. Onnie Patrick, Pettigrew Ark. and Mrs. Minnie Tray, Dutton Ark. two brothers Eli Acord of California and F C Acord, Sunland Calif. a grandson Floyd Crabb route 1 Seminole, 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 3 pm Thursday in the Leedey high-school auditorium Roesch Brothers is in charge.
