WINSTON-SALEM - Miss Nancy Ruth Brann, 91, entered into the more immediate presence of her Lord and Saviour from the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home on Tuesday evening, April 24, 2012. She was born, the youngest of eight children, on June 30, 1920, in Forsyth County to Thaddaeus Rholider and Sarah Jane Crater Brann. With her simple, child-like mind, she loved life, her church, her pastors, people and animals, especially dogs! She spent her entire life in Winston-Salem, making her home with her Father, Mother, and brother, Robert, first on Poplar Street and then on Shady Boulevard when Interstate 40 was built, taking their Poplar Street home. After the death of her widowed mother, she continued living with her brother until his death in 2003, at which time she moved to Homestead Hills Assisted Living, where she lived until her move to Hospice. She was preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings and their spouses, Blanche (R.L.) Adams, infant brother Clyde, Roger (Vera) Brann, Verna (Al) Alford, Mary (Will) Murray, Fred (Margaret) Brann, and Robert Brann, as well as a dear friend, Ruth Kiser. She is survived by nieces and nephews, Roger Lee Adams of Williston, FL, Marian Smith of Greensboro, Joan (Alfred) Nelson of Santa Rosa, CA, Richard (Renee) Adams of Statesville, Bruce (Joyce) Adams of Winston-Salem, Jane (Gary) Craver of Wallburg, Ike (Jo) Brann of Winston-Salem, Phillip (Barbara) Alford of Lexington and Mimi Peige of White Marsh, MD. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. A graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 27, 2012 at Salem Moravian Graveyard officiated by her pastors whom she loved dearly, Rt. Rev. Lane Sapp and Rev. Dallas Prestwood. The family extends our deepest appreciation to all of her dear friends and the staff members of Homestead Hills Assisted Living who have cared for her so lovingly for the past eight years. Memorials may be made to Calvary Moravian Church, 600 Holly Ave., Winston-Salem, NC 27101 or to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
