Mrs Mary Keith Townes, of 204 Perry Avenue, widow of the late Mr George F Townes, and mother of Attorney Henry K Townes, died suddenly at her home last night of an attack of acute indigestion.
Mrs Townes was born in Pickens County in 1838. She was a Miss Mary Keith, daughter of a prominent planter of that county. She was the last member of her family.
Mrs Townes was a Christian woman whose sweet influence and loving kindness was felt by all her friends and neighbors, and her sudden death last night was a great shock to her many friends.
She was a consistent member of the Pendleton Street Baptist Church, and took a great part in the work of the church. Her life was filled with shining beauties and was lived in a simple and noble way.
She is survived by three children: Attorney Henry K Townes, Miss Eliza K Townes and Mrs Aurelia T Munn.
