Jane Grubbs, first child of William Grubbs and Anne Utley Wade Grubbs, was born in 1846, in Calloway County, Kentucky. She was about 9 years old when she came with her widowed mother Anne and four siblings to live with Anne's widowed mother Phoebe Utley Wade in the New Hope Settlement (now Crandall), in Kaufman County, Texas. She died in the epidemic that swept through the New HOpe Settlement in March 1857, most likely on the 29th or 30th.. We believe she is buried here in the space between her cousin Barksdale William ("Baz") Wade, the first to die, and his brother Bannister Clay Wade, who died on 30 Mar 1857. There is no marker.
