GAINESVILLE FLORIDA SUN OBITUARY – 07/06/2007
William Chesnut Miller, age 78, of Gainesville, FL passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at E.T. York Hospice Care Center. Mr. Miller was born August 22, 1928 in Monticello, FL to George Knox & Edna Earle Chesnut Miller. He graduated with a business degree from Texas A&M in 1949 where he also was a member of the marching band. He was a retired regional merchandise manager for Sears Roebuck. He also served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the board of the Historic Haile Homestead and the Matheson Museum and president of Santa Fe Lake Dwellers. He was a session member with First Presbyterian Church of Gainesville. Mr. Miller enjoyed fishing and genealogy. Mr. Miller is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Miller; children, Edna Earle Miller Barnard of Atlanta, GA, Mary Miller Young of Gainesville, FL, William "Bill" Chesnut Miller Jr., of Gainesville, FL, Edward Bowling Miller of Arlington, TX; step-children, Melissa Warheit of Columbus, OH and Karl Warheit of Winton Salem, NC; brother, Gibbs Ulmer Miller of Monticello, FL; and 6 grandchildren, Jason Barnard, Elissa Barnard, Glen Young, Ryan Young, Eli Ranjbaran, and Jacob "Jake" Miller. Mr. Miller was preceded in death in 2000 by wife, Mary Lou Miller and brother, George Knox Miller Jr. Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 7, 2007, at 10 a.m., at First Presbyterian Church in Gainesville, with Dr. Don McGarity officiating. Interment will precede the service at 9 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery. Family will receive friends Friday, July 6, 2007, from 5:30-7 p.m. at Williams-Thomas Downtown, 404 North Main Street. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Gainesville, 300 SW 2nd Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32601.
