Martha was born 16 Aug 1886 in Elk River, MO to Robert Franklin Prater and Elizabeth Ann Starnes. She was the 5th child of 12. Her family moved to Colfax, WA when she was 12 and she grew up in Deer Park, WA. She married Frank Noble Swenson at age 18 and they lived in Deer Park until sometime in the 1920's when they moved to Seattle, WA. She raised her younger sister Maude when their mother passed away in 1902. She died in Seattle in 1952 and is buried in Riverside Park in Spokane with many of her husband Frank and many of her siblings.
