Samuel Coffman Liggett, Jr., 67, of Churchville died Tuesday morning (Dec. 1, 1992) in King's Daughters' Hospital.Born Sept. 15, 1925 in Churchville, he was a son of Samuel C., Sr. and Willie (Dickenson) Liggett.

Prior to retirement, he had been an insurance agent with Clem & Co. Insurance for 31 years. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Liggett served in the Army 279th Engineering Combat Battalion in Germany. He was a member of the Loch Willow Presbyterian Church and Churchville Ruritan Club.

Mr. Liggett is survived by his wife, Jean Cupp Liggett; two daughters, Mrs. William J. (Billie Sue) Brill of Churchville, and Mrs. Richard P. (Jeanie Reeves of Mount Solon; a son, Samuel Coffman Liggett III of Mount Solon, a brother, Richard H. Liggett of Raymond, Miss; three sisters, Katharine L. Jordan of Churchville, Mary L. Allen of Silver Springs, Md. and Alice E. Liggett of Harrisonburg, and four grandchildren, Charlotte and Sarah Reeves of Mount Solon and Mark and Kurt Brill of Churchville.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Loch Willow Presbyterian Church by Dr. Regan Gibbs, with the Rev. Gregory Briehl assisting. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Thursday at Bear Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Loch Will Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 85, Churchville, Va.
