Services for Augusta Thomas Cox, 103, Hopkinsville, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with the Rev. C.E. Bagwell officiating.

Burial will be in Cave Spring Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Thursday at Gamble Funeral Home, and visitation with the family will be from 6 until 7 p.m.

She died at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, at Pinecrest Manor of natural causes.

A native of Stewart County, Tenn., she was born April 9, 1899, the daughter of the late William and Lizzie Thomas. She was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church where she was president emeritus of the deaconesses, was a past president of the senior ushers, the senior mission and was a member of the Busy Bees Ladies Church auxiliary and the Senior Citizens Jubille.

On the event of her 100th birthday, she was named an honorary mayor Hopkinsville and received greetings from city, county and state officials, congressmen and President Clinton.

Survivors include foster children Clara Frances Gray, Marcia Johnson, Regina Kelly, Ada Gibson, Emma Williams, all of Hopkinsville, Larry Grinter, Elkton, Deborah Jones, Evansville, Ind., Sherwood Grinter, Philadelphia, Pa., and Carol Gould, Killeen, Texas.
