Born in Linden, North Strabane Township, Washington Co PA, son of John McMillan and Mary Mitchell. Husband of Jane Douglas.

Washington Observer, Washington PA, Saturday 22 December 1928 - THOMAS McMILLAN DIES IN HOME AT BOWER HILL - Peters Township Farmer and Stock Raiser Was 90 Years of Age - Great-Grandson of Dr. John McMillan.-- McMurray, Dec. 21 - THOMAS McMILLAN, son of JOHN and MARY MITCHELL McMILLAN, died in his home at Bower Hill, near here, Friday, December 21, 1928 at 10 a.m. He had been ill about two weeks, a heavy cold having resulted in his gradual collapse and death. Because of his age he had not been very active for some time. Mr. McMillan was born at Linden, July 2, 1838, and lived his entire life in Washington County. He was a great-grandson of DR. JOHN McMILLAN, founder of Jefferson College. He was married to MISS JANE DOUGLAS, September 16, 1862. Six children were born to the couple: JAMES M. McMILLAN of Thedford, Neb.; JOHN A. McMILLAN, who died in 1912; ORENA C., wife of S. F. McNARY, of Eighty-Four; MRS. ALICE B. PHILLIPS, at home; WILLIAM C. who died in infancy; and T. CLARENCE, of Thedford, Neb. Mrs. McMillan died March 18, 1923. He also leaves nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, THOMAS McMILLAN III and ANNA JANE BLACKSTEAD, of the state of California. One sister, MRS. REBECCA SPEER, lives in Canonsburg. Mr. McMillan was a prominent farmer and stock raiser. Politically he was a Republican, and he had been a school director and road supervisor and had held other township offices. He was a member of the Peter’s Creek United Presbyterian Church and had been active in the church until his failing strength in late years had made this impossible. He had made many friends. Funeral services will be held in the Peters Creek United Presbyterian Church Monday, December 24, at 2 p.m. Interment will be in the Peter’s Creek Cemetery.
