Ralph James Simonetti was born on December 29, 1937 in the Bronx and died Thanksgiving Day, Thursday November 22, 2007, after a short stay in HCR Manor Care, a nursing home located in Easton, Pennsylvania. He was 69 years old.

Raised in the Bronx, he was the second child, and only son, of Rocco Vincent Simonetti and Rose Agnes Morano-Simonetti, both of the Bronx. His father Rocco was first generation Italian-American and Ralph’s mother Rose was second generation Italian-American and second generation Irish-American. Ralph lived most of his life in Brooklyn, New York. He never married.

An English teacher at Bishop Ford High School in Brooklyn, New York, Ralph was also a Holy Cross Brother for 30 years. He was an art collector, enjoyed the theater and loved traveling.

Ralph was predeceased by his beloved parents. His father Rocco died in 1988 and his mother Rose died in 1998.

Surviving Ralph are his loving sister Rose Simonetti-Palumbo and her husband Donald Palumbo of Hopatcong, New Jersey, as well as his cherished nephew, Donald M. Palumbo of Hamburg, New Jersey and his former wife Clair J. Palumbo of Hackettstown, New Jersey, great-niece Gina Marie Palumbo of Hackettstown, New Jersey, his niece Christine Palumbo-Ciaccio and her husband Luke, of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, great-niece Gabriella Rose Ciaccio of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and great-nephew David Luke Ciaccio of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

The condolence below which was written by Rt. Msgr. Jeremiah F. Kenney for Ralph on November 27, 2007 speaks volumes of a very gentle, loving man:

"May God rest Ralph's good soul. I went through formation in the Holy Cross Brothers with Ralph and knew him to be kind and gifted with a great sense of humor. He was bright, a natural student and teacher. His love for life and his love for his students was known to all who knew him. During my own transition from the Brotherhood to the Priesthood, he was a great help to me. I can only pray that this good Disciple of Jesus is one with all his loved ones in heaven. I said Mass for Ralph today and said my rosary as well for his soul. May he rest in peace. Rt. Rev. Msgr. Jeremiah F. Kenney, Archbishop's Vicar for Judicial and Canonical Affairs, Archdiocese of Baltimore."

"One gift above all others God gives to us to treasure ~ one that knows no time, no place and one gold cannot measure. The precious, poignant, tender gift of Memory ~ that will keep our dear ones ever in our hearts although God gives them sleep. It brings back long remembered things ~ a song, a word, a smile and our world's a better place because we had them for awhile!"
