Another old citizen has been summoned to the great beyond. Joseph Miller died at his home in this place last Wednesday morning, from the infirmities due to old age. His remains were interred in Snyder's churchyard on Saturday morning.
Joseph Miller was born in Lancaster County, Pa., June 2, 1827. He came to this county in 1859 and resided in Centre township, on the farms now owned by M.A. McPherson and Clarion T. Rice, until about eleven years ago when he moved to town. On March 12, 1850, he was married to Mary Brenneman, of Lancaster county, who died January 3, 1902. The following children were the result of this union: Isaac B., of Illinois: John, dead: Margaret, at home; Harry B., of Harrisburg; Mrs. Mary Rogers, of Harrisburg: Joseph, of Ottawa, Iowa; Mrs. J.S. Whitmore (Emma), of this place; Mrs. Addie Lightner, dead: B. H. Miller (Benjamin) Harrisburg; William D., of Harrisburg: one infant dead: thirty-two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. August 13, 1864, he enlisted in Co. I, 208th regiment, P.V.I., under Capt. J.H. Marshall, serving nine months, being mustered out June 1, 1865.
Mr. Miller was an honest, Christian gentleman and bore the good will and respect of all who knew him. He was aged 77 years.

In 1860, he was a farmer living in Centre Township, Perry County, Pennsylvania, and stood 5' 9" tall with brown hair and gray eyes.
A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in Harrisburg August 30, 1861, mustered into federal service there August 31 as a private with Co. I, 208th Pennsylvania Infantry, and honorably discharged with his company June 1, 1865.
