GASTON--Christina Jill Lucas, 21, died Wednesday in Johnson City Medical Center, Johnson City, Tenn., from injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
Miss Lucas was a senior at Tusculum College in Greenville, Tenn., majoring in business management.
She was a 1998 graduate of Wes-Del High School, where she was a starter on the Lady Warriors volleyball and basketball teams. She attended Tusculum College, where she was SAC All-Conference second team for the 1999 and 2000 seasons.
She was serving her internship at Johnson City United Way. Jill attended the Lighthouse of Jesus Christ and worked summer vacations at Applebee's Restaurant and Lawns by Design.
She is survived by her parents, William and Janell Lucas, Gaston; a sister, Andrea Kim Boozier (husband: Steve), Hartford City; a brother, Mark Lucas (wife: Holly), Muncie; grandparents, Carl and Betty Lucas, Betty Jean Dobbs (husband: Tom) and Marcella Dickey (husband: Jeff); a niece, Mackenzie Crawford; a nephew, Tommy Boozier, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Robert V. McCord; and great-grandmother, Mildred Sweany.
Services for family and friends will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Lighthouse of Jesus Christ, 8116 W. Jackson St., Muncie, with Pastor Ron Drown officiating. Burial will be in Elm Ridge Cemetery. Calling will be 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Garden View Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to a volleyball scholarship fund at Tusculum College in Jill's name, through the funeral home.
