Took A.B. degree at Peabody College University Nashville in 1892. A.M. at same school in 1893. Graduate student University of Chicago 1895 to 1896. Instructor in history and Mathematics Montgomery-Bell Academy Nashville 1890 to 1903. Professor of Mathematics Peabody College University 1905 to 1911. Appointed by Governor B.W. Hooper in 1911 as State Superintendent of Public Instruction. Reappointed 1913. President of West Tennesse Normal School 1913.
