Soccer player and coach. A crafty midfielder, he lifted Argentine team Independiente de Avellaneda to first division titles in 1967, 1970 and 1971, and the Libertadores crown in 1972. After his retirement, he became a veteran coach who guided the national soccer teams of El Salvador and Venezuela, and the teams of Boca, Independiente and Chacarita (Argentina), Atlético de Madrid (Spain), Millonarios (Colombia) and Gremio and Fluminense of Brazil, among many others.
