Norman E. "Norm" Vine, age 73, of Henrico, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2011, at St. Mary's Hospital in Richmond following a brief illness.

Norm was born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on May 26, 1938, to the late Isabelle (Kelleher) Vine and Norman Vine. He was a graduate of Attleboro High School and Bryant University.

He served four years in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict and continued his military service in the Air National Guard for many years thereafter. Norm was a life member of AMVETS (American Veterans) and was an avid volunteer at the Hunter Holmes McGuire Veterans' Hospital in Richmond where he arranged monthly activities for hospitalized veterans. In addition, he served as the AMVETS Second Vice Commander for the Commonwealth of Virginia. He worked tirelessly to provide needed medical equipment to the residents of the Sitter and Barfoot Veterans Care Center.

Norm was the Grand Master of the Charles River Masonic Lodge in West Medway, Massachusetts and also a Master Mason at the Tuckahoe Lodge No. 347 of Richmond. He was also an avid Boston sports fan and a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Norm leaves his wife, Elinore "Ellie" Vine of Henrico, Virginia; his brothers, Glenn Vine (Massachusetts), William Vine (Florida) and the late Kenneth Vine (Missouri); and his sisters, Nancy O'Neil (Florida), Judith Hennessey (Washington) and Elizabeth Dvorek (Minnesota).

Norm was the father of Douglas Vine (Maryland), Steven Vine (Massachusetts), Deborah Smith (Rhode Island) and Susan Gilson (Maine). He was the stepfather of Ellen Duffy McKay (Glen Allen) and Stephanie Seeley (Massachusetts). He also leaves 13 grandchildren.

His funeral Mass was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2011, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Glen Allen, Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, his family requested that donations be made to the Hunter Holmes McGuire Veterans' Hospital in Richmond, Virginia.
